Showers & Laundry Access
Our volunteers help 35-70 people live with dignity.
The ripple effect
Imagine trying to get a job when you haven’t showered and your clothes are dirty.
Homelessness is about so much more than shelter. It’s about all the things, large and small, that a home provides.
You can read more about MVCD’s story here, but the quick version is that when Mountain View Fellowship, the church that started this work, hosted the Winter Shelter, they saw the ripple effects of homelessness. And they started looking for solutions.
Some of those solutions are complicated. But others are pretty simple. Like helping people smell, look, and feel better.
In 2019, the church added a shower and laundry room to its building. MVCD now operates the program with lots of help from Mountain View Fellowship volunteers.
The ripple effect works both ways. Just like the effects of not having shelter ripple outward, so do getting a shower and having a conversation with a volunteer who cares.
